 A cut above Since 1986 How much does granite weigh? 3cm or 1-1/4 thick granite weighs about 18+- pounds per square ft. 2cm or 3/4 thick granite weighs about 12+- pounds per square ft. example- If you have a granite top that is 3cm or 1-1/4 thick, 2ft X 10ft. that would be 20 square ft. 20 sq ft X 18 pounds per square ft. = 360 pounds. Will your existing cabinets support granite? Most kitchen cabinets will support granite counter tops, We can take a look at what you have and can make suggestions on how to strengthen them to support granite, If there needs to be any modifications, we have a couple of cabinet companies we can refer you to.
